Solidarity Sidekick Down Route - Granite City 6.6K : Stop 18
This event is the Stop 18 installment of a multi-stop Route 66 series, presented as a 6.6-kilometer run/walk in Granite City, Illinois, at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge Illinois entrance (10950 Riverview Dr, Granite City, IL 62040). The in-person stop marks the conclusion of the Illinois portion of the series and is paired with a Virtual 6.6K option.
The Illinois side of the bridge is closed until October, so the course will not cross the bridge for the in-person stop. The event description notes a pre-race celebration at the Illinois bridge entrance with music, photos, and a community send-off, and a post-run celebration with the Spirits Run community. The program includes a shared 2.1-mile Sidekick segment, and the stop is framed as part of an awareness effort for ALS.
Participants receive an official series medal and an Old Chain of Rocks Bridge Route 66 charm added to the medal for completing this stop.
