Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 - Old Chain of Rocks Bridge
The Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 series concludes its Illinois chapter at the historic Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. This event takes place in Granite City at the symbolic gateway between Illinois and Missouri. The location features a mile-long span known for its mid-river bend and views of the Mississippi River. The event serves as a community gathering and a show of support for ALS awareness.
The run is the 18th and final stop in a statewide series that follows the iconic Mother Road. Participants gather at the Illinois bridge entrance for a community celebration featuring music and photos before the start of the athletic portion of the evening. The event is designed to coincide with the sunset as participants cross over the river.

The distance of 6.6 km is chosen to represent the total journey of Route 66 and symbolize the experiences of families affected by ALS. Participants have the opportunity to complete a 2.1-mile shared segment during the course of the run. This finale allows participants to earn their final badge for the Illinois Route 66 adventure while running across one of the most recognized landmarks on the route.
