Soil Mates Backyard Ultra - Thomaston, GA
Soil Mates Backyard Ultra is a Last One Standing format race held in Thomaston, Georgia, with a second option for a single lap entry. The primary format uses a 4.167-mile loop (a Yard) with about 350 feet of elevation gain through pastures and woods. The start/finish sits in a large open pasture with free parking, crew set-up space, and porta-potties nearby.

Course composition is roughly 60% pasture on a five-foot path marked by guide ropes and arrows, and 40% single-track forest trail with roots and rocks. Each Yard must be completed in less than one hour; participants must return to the starting corral before the next bell to continue. Except for restroom breaks, runners may not leave the course or receive outside assistance during a Yard, and artificial aids are not allowed. The event follows official Backyard Ultra rules regarding starts, yards, and winner determination.
Additional details include free camping the night before in the starting pasture, a cupless policy with water refills available near the start/finish, a participation shirt for starters who register by January 27, 2027, and a buckle mailed to participants who run 24 Yards or 100 miles or more.
