Event Overview
The Soda City Adventure Race is a multi-sport, navigation-focused event in Columbia, South Carolina. It offers two distinct race formats on the same day, both utilizing a checkpoint-based (rogaine-style) scoring system where participants earn points by collecting as many checkpoints as they can within a set time limit. The event is hosted at Segra Park Baseball Stadium, home of the Columbia Fireflies, located in the BullStreet District at 1640 Freed Street.
The Two Events
- Soda City Scramble: A 5-hour family and beginner-friendly adventure. Typical components include approximately 1–2 miles of a water segment (such as a river tubing-style format), 2–6+ miles of trekking, and 4+ miles of biking. The course is designed to be approachable with multiple routing choices.
- Soda City Odyssey: A 12-hour endurance adventure race aimed at a range of participants, from beginners to advanced athletes. It features a larger checkpoint menu, more route combinations, and explores different terrain, including single-track. Solo and team divisions are available.
Key Features
The event is built to be scalable, allowing teams to adjust their route and strategy in real-time based on their ability, fitness, and comfort level. Participants will navigate the city and its surroundings by bike, foot, and paddle. Post-race festivities with food, drinks, and music are held at Segra Park Baseball Stadium.
