Smith Point Bridge 5K Run/Walk for Literacy
The Smith Point Bridge 5K Run/Walk for Literacy is scheduled for September 12, 2026 at Smith Point County Park in Shirley, NY. The event offers an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual option with a virtual participation window running from September 12 through September 20.
The course follows a coastal route with the historic Smith Point Bridge as the focal point and panoramic ocean views. The finish is at the TWA Flight 800 Memorial. The event is sanctioned by USATF-LI.
Participant amenities include a race T-shirt guaranteed to the first 400 registrants, bagels and refreshments after the race, an awards ceremony, portable toilets in the parking lot, and on-site parking subject to Suffolk County Parks fees. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to the top three male and female in age groups ranging from 9 and under through 80 and over.
Bib pickup is available in person beginning one hour before the event; virtual participants receive mailed bibs the Monday prior to the race. Virtual entrants may upload finish times and photos beginning on race day through the following Sunday. Registration terms note that fees are nonrefundable and not transferable.
