Smith Point Bridge 5K Run/Walk for Literacy

The Smith Point Bridge 5K Run/Walk for Literacy takes place on September 12, 2026 at Smith Point County Park in Shirley, NY. The event uses a coastal route that highlights the historic Smith Point Bridge and offers ocean views. The course starts at the park parking lot and finishes at the TWA Flight 800 Memorial.

Entry includes a race T-shirt guaranteed to the first 400 registrants. Post-race provisions include bagels and refreshments, and portable toilets will be available in the parking lot. Suffolk County Parks charges a parking fee after 8:30 AM.

Awards are presented to the top three men and top three women overall and to top three in multiple age groups, including 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, and continuing by five-year brackets up to 80+. The event is sanctioned by USATF-LI.

The race supports the Community Family Literacy Project, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that promotes family literacy in the area served by the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library.
