small park BIG RUN marshals
small park BIG RUN is a community 24 hour running and cultural weekend in Sheffield that marks ten years of solidarity with Palestine. The programme combines continuous running or walking around a park with a parallel programme of talks, film screenings, music and family activities located outside Meersbrook Hall and in the Walled Garden cafe area.
The event features a Palestinian Voices Tent with themed conversations including a focus on Palestinian prisoners and on the scholasticide in education, a BIG SCREEN showing short films and live links, lantern workshops and an evening lantern walk, a torch of remembrance procession, a solidarity supper and a closing BIG SING that is linked live to Palestine. There is also a short Fun Run for children with ice pops and certificates, plus buskers positioned around the course.
Marshals provide on course safety and coordination across the 24 hour period. Organisers monitor marshal cover and publish where additional help is required. The weekend includes activities intended for children and families, including craft workshops run by Families for Gaza and sessions that aim to create a welcoming environment for evening and night time participants.
The event combines running, cultural expression and public remembrance while linking local activity with Palestine via screenings and live connections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
