Event overview

The Drop - Sheffield is an off-road navigation challenge on 15 November 2026 at Up & Running, 37-39 Church St, Sheffield City Centre. Participants are taken by bus to an undisclosed drop-off location. From there they must find their way back to the event centre without maps, GPS, compasses, or route guidance. Distances are measured as the crow flies, so actual routes may be longer.

Entry, rules and kit

Entry is open to people aged 18 and over on 15/11/2026. Entry fees listed are £45 for the 10-mile and £50 for the 15-mile. At registration participants hand over electronic devices and navigational aids and receive a race number and an emergency bag. Devices may be sealed in the emergency bag; breaking the seal will result in disqualification. Only organiser-provided maps may be used if any are issued. No shortcuts are allowed and participants must complete the course on foot.

Tracking and logistics

Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature and is not included in the entry fee. Trackers are stated to be accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and signal black spots. Trackers should be placed with a clear view of the sky and must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is about a 10 minute walk and a bus station is about 5 minutes from the event HQ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
