Event overview

The Drop - Sheffield is a navigation-based endurance event at 37-39 Church St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 2GL. The next race date is 16/11/2025. Participants can enter solo or as part of a team and choose between the following distances:

  • 15 miles
  • 10 miles

Distances are measured as the crow flies, so the actual route back to the event centre may be longer than the stated distance.

Format, rules and logistics

At registration participants surrender electronic devices and receive a race number and an emergency bag. Competitors are transported to an undisclosed drop-off, wear a blackout blindfold or an alternative if needed, and must navigate back to the event centre without maps, GPS, a compass, or outside help. Rules include sealing any recording devices in the emergency bag, using only organiser-provided maps if any, and completing the course on foot; breaking the emergency bag seal leads to disqualification.

An optional live GPS tracking service is available for an extra fee. Trackers are accurate within about 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and signal black spots; trackers must be returned at the end of the event or a £175 replacement fee applies. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is a ten-minute walk and the bus station is five minutes from event HQ. FAQs provide additional event details and required kit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
