Event overview
The Drop - Sheffield is a navigation challenge on 15 November 2026 run from Up & Running, 37-39 Church St, Sheffield S1 2GL. Participants are taken to an undisclosed drop location and must find their own way back to the event centre without maps, GPS, compass, or other navigation aids. Distances are measured as the crow flies, so the actual route travelled will be significantly longer. The event is open to entrants aged 18 and over on 15 November 2026.
Format and rules
- 10-mile
- 15-mile
- 6-mile (non-locals only)
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag to carry for the duration. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; time starts when blindfolds are removed. Rules include no GPS unless the device is sealed inside the emergency bag, no unauthorised maps, on-foot travel only, and disqualification if the emergency bag seal is broken. Entries for the 6-mile option may be checked and local participants moved to a different distance.
Practical information
Entry prices shown are £35, £45, and £50 depending on distance. Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature; trackers must be returned or a £175 replacement fee applies.
