About the race
Slay the Dragon is a multi day trail running event held at Silver Star Mountain Resort near Vernon, BC, presented as a 10th anniversary weekend on June 25–27, 2027. The event includes multiple distances, aid stations with drinks and snacks, professional chip timing, medical support, and drop bag service for the 50 km course.
The event distances include:
- 13.6 km
- 25 km (1 ITRA point, 5 mountain points)
- 50 km (2 ITRA points, 4 mountain points)
- Dragon Vertical Climb (1.1 miles, 480 m vertical gain)
- Kids race ~2.5 km (ages 0–12)
Courses start at roughly 5,200 feet and reach viewpoints near 6,280 feet. Routes use singletrack mountain bike trails and alpine slopes, with marked course flags and marshals at key locations. Aid stations provide water, Tailwind, Skratch, GU gels, fruit, cookies and other packaged snacks; some glutenless items are available but cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. The event follows a cupless policy: runners must carry their own reusable cup or hydration system.
Weekend programming described for racers and families includes package pickup at the Adventure Center, an athlete activation village, sponsor expo, awards, a post race meal, a family market, and evening activities such as a silent disco. Race entries include a custom finisher medal, a race bib with timing chip, aid stations, and a post race meal; a 10th anniversary T shirt is guaranteed only for registrations completed by May 15, 2027.
