Slay the Dragon
Slay the Dragon is a trail running weekend at Silver Star Mountain Resort in British Columbia, celebrating its tenth anniversary. The event includes multiple trail race options over technical single track, climbs and long descents, plus a kids event and a separate vertical climb.
Available distances include:
- 50 km trail race
- 25 km trail race
- 13.6 km trail race
- 2.5 km Kids Race
- Dragon Vertical Climb, roughly 1.1 to 1.4 miles with about 480 m vertical gain
The kids event, Slay the Baby Dragon, is a 2.5 km out-and-back on the Cross Mountain Trail for children aged 0–12, timed but focused on participation; finishers receive a medallion and a goodie bag. Parent participation is suggested for younger children.
The Dragon Vertical Climb is a steep, off-trail ascent described as raw open slope with significant elevation gain. The vertical climb offers prize money for top finishers.
Event services and features listed for the weekend include racer package pickup, athlete meet and greet, an expo with vendors, live race announcing, fully stocked aid stations, professional timing and photography, first aid, food and beverage options, recovery services, custom racer items and finisher medals.
