Event details

Skyline Ridge Trail Run and Hike takes place in La Honda, CA. The event offers three distances:

  • 50K
  • 21K
  • 10K

The event is a fundraiser for the Bay Area Ridge Trail. The organizer states that 100% of entry fees go to Ridge Trail Organisation. Registration closes on Fri, Mar 6.

Courses and terrain

All courses start and finish at Skyline Open Space Preserve.

  • The 10K route goes from Skyline OSP toward Monte Bello OSP, climbs to Black Mountain Summit, then returns on Indian Springs Trail. Hikers are welcome on this course.
  • The 21K route runs through Skyline Ridge and Russian Ridge Open Space Preserves, with open grasslands, narrow hiking trails, and wider ranch roads. Hikers are welcome on this course.
  • The 50K route passes through evergreen forest, oak-madrone woodland, and high grasslands across several preserves and a county park. This course is run only.

Exposed ridgetops can be foggy and windy; south- and west-facing slopes may have limited shade.

Support, marking and cutoffs

Aid stations will offer water, Tailwind, fresh fruit, peanut butter and jelly, soda, and gels. A water faucet is available near Black Mountain campsite for the 50K course. The finish area includes an aid station with hot food. Courses will be marked with pink ribbons and red flags; wrong routes will be marked in blue and turns may have red/black striped ribbons.

GPX files are available for the 50K and 21K courses. Half marathon cutoffs include a Russian Ridge aid station cutoff of 2:20 and an overall cutoff of 5.5 hours. The 50K has intermediate cutoffs and a 9-hour overall cutoff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
