Courses, aid and cutoffs
The 10K starts at Skyline Open Space Preserve, goes toward Monte Bello Open Space Preserve, climbs to Black Mountain Summit, then returns on Indian Springs Trail to Skyline OSP. The Half Marathon runs through Skyline Ridge and Russian Ridge Open Space Preserves, using narrow hiking trails and wider ranch roads with duff-covered, gravelly, or rocky surfaces. Aid stations are at Russian Ridge (around mile 5-6), Skyline OSP (around mile 10) and Monte Bello (around mile 12). The Russian Ridge aid station has a cutoff of 2:20; overall half marathon cutoff is 5.5 hours.
The 50K travels through evergreen forest, oak-madrone woodland, and high grasslands across multiple preserves and a county park, with exposed ridgelines that can be foggy, windy, or hot on west- and south-facing slopes. Notable features include Black Mountain and Longs Ridge. Aid stations provide water, Tailwind, fresh fruit, PBJ, soda and gels; there is a water faucet near Black Mountain campsite and hot food at the finish. 50K cutoffs include passing Monte Bello (mi 12.5) by 3:10, Saratoga Gap (mi 26) by 7:15, and an overall finish cutoff of 9 hours. Courses are marked with pink ribbons and red flags; wrong routes are marked with blue ribbons and turns may have red/black striped ribbons.
