Skunk Ape Trail Run - August 1, 2026
The Skunk Ape Trail Run is the third race of the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL. The event offers two trail distances and is capped at 400 runners.

The event follows a cupless policy; participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for $5. Several aid stations on course will provide water, Gatorade, coke, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items. Marco's Pizza is listed as a series sponsor and pizza will be provided at the finish area.
All entrants in the Skunk Ape distances receive a short sleeve tri-blend event shirt and a finisher award. Age groups for awards are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The race notes very loose cutoffs with a suggested 15 minute per mile pace for some participants and a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series entries.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before each race at RunningLane, 2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL, with limited pickup available the morning of the race. The event may be delayed or canceled in the event of severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
