Skunk Ape Trail Run - Monte Sano State Park

Skunk Ape Trail Run is the third race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL. The event offers two trail distances and is capped at 400 runners. It is part of a four-race series that runs from June through August and includes shorter and longer race options across the series.

Course terrain includes bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings and waterfalls. The layout is described as spectator friendly. Several aid stations on course will supply water, Gatorade, coke, pretzels, M and M's, granola bars and other items. The races are cupless; participants must carry a hand-held bottle, pack or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for five dollars.

All participants in the Skunk Ape 5 Mile and 10 Mile receive a short-sleeve tri-blend race shirt (same shirt across the series) and a finisher award. Age groups for all races are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Packet pickup for Skunk Ape is scheduled for Friday, July 31 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm at RunningLane, 2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL; morning pickup is available on race day. Registration closes on July 29.
