The Drop UK : Skipton

The Drop is a stripped-back navigation challenge held in Skipton on 28 December 2026. Participants are taken to an undisclosed location and must find their own way back to the event centre without route markers or directions.

At registration participants hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. They receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration; breaking the seal results in disqualification. Entry fees range from £35 to £55.

Deployment uses a bus and blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives. When blindfolds are removed the clock starts and every decision is the participant’s responsibility. No maps, no GPS, no compass, and no outside help are permitted; travel must be on foot only.

Distances are measured as the crow flies; actual walking or running routes will be significantly longer.

Available distances:

  • 6 mile Drop for non locals only
  • 10 mile Drop
  • 15 mile Drop

The 6 mile option is restricted to non-local participants to avoid advantage from local knowledge; entries may be checked and local participants moved to longer options. A live GPS tracking system is offered as an optional safety feature; trackers must be returned after the event or a replacement fee of £175 will apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
