Event overview
The Calderdale Hike takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 at St Peter's Cricket Club in Sowerby Bridge (HX6 1DF). The event is organised by 24th St Paul’s Scout Group and is open to all entrants aged 14 or older on the day. Entries open on 12 September 2025 and close on 9 April 2026. Entry fees are shown as £25.00 for individuals and £90.00 for a team of four. The event uses the Race Result professional timing system and issues a full results sheet and certificates of achievement.
Routes and logistics
The event offers three circular routes across the high Pennine valleys of Calderdale. Distances:
- 35 miles
- 24 miles
- 16 miles
The routes run over tracks across surrounding moors and include steep ascents and descents. The long route involves about 5,500 feet of ascent and the medium route about 3,800 feet of ascent; the shortest route involves about 2,700 feet of ascent. Navigation skills are recommended for some terrain and in poor weather. Registration and compulsory kit check take place at St Peter's Cricket Club. The event provides refreshments at headquarters and checkpoints, water at roadside checkpoints, transport from roadside retirement points back to headquarters, a hot meal at headquarters, and free car parking at Ryburn School and on the road outside.
