Event overview
The Calderdale Hike is an annual off-road walking and running event organised by the 24th St Paul’s Scout Group. The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 at St Peter’s Cricket Club, Sowerby Bridge (HX6 1DF). Entry is open to people aged 14 or older on the day. Entries open 12 September 2025 and close 9 April 2026. The event has run since 1979 and raises money for the scout group.
Course and logistics
The event offers three circular routes across the high Pennine valleys west of Sowerby Bridge. The terrain runs over tracks and moorland and includes steep ascents and descents; navigation skills are recommended in poor weather.

The long route involves about 5,500 feet of ascent and the medium route about 3,800 feet; the short route involves about 2,700 feet of ascent. A compulsory kit check is required before the start. Included for entrants: refreshments at headquarters and checkpoints, water at roadside checkpoints, transport from roadside retirement points back to HQ, a hot meal at HQ, a licensed bar, a certificate of achievement, professional Race Result timing, and a full results sheet.
