Event overview
The Calderdale Hike is a long-distance outdoor event taking place on Saturday 11 April 2026 at St Peter's Cricket Club, Sowerby Bridge (HX6 1DF). It is organised by the 24th St Paul’s Scout Group and has an entry minimum age of 14 years on the day. Entries open 12 September 2025 and close 9 April 2026. The event has supported the scout group since 1979 and is listed as part of the Runfurther Championship for 2025. Registration and a compulsory kit check take place at the event base before participants start.
Routes and facilities
The routes run over tracks across high Pennine valleys and surrounding moors, with some steep ascents and descents. Navigation skills are recommended in poor weather. Distances offered:
- 35 miles - about 5500 ft ascent; runners and walkers.
- 24 miles - about 3800 ft ascent; runners and walkers.
- 16 miles - about 2700 ft ascent; runners and walkers.
Included in the entry fee are refreshments at headquarters and checkpoints, water at roadside checkpoints, transport from roadside retirement points back to HQ, a hot meal at HQ, a licensed bar, a certificate of achievement, and full results produced using a professional timing system.
