Ski to the Sun

Ski to the Sun is an annual community ski event organized by Methow Trails and the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation in the Methow Valley. The event offers multiple race options:

• Marathon
• Half Marathon
• Relay

The course travels through North America’s largest ski trail network and moves from the banks of the Methow River toward mountain vistas at Sun Mountain Lodge. A course map is available for participants. Photographs and past results show varied start formats including relay and para-nordic starts.

Registration opens September 21, 2026. Entry fees include a race bib, a custom Ski to the Sun hat, post-race lunch, one free beer for entrants 21 and older, raffle prizes, and awards. There is no day-of registration and the event typically sells out. Kids 17 and under have a reduced entry fee of $40; a coupon code must be requested before registration.

Organizers recommend purchasing registration insurance. Refunds may be subject to a cancellation fee if insurance was not purchased. Transfers and other entry policies are handled through the event registration system. Methow Trails and Methow Valley Nordic are nonprofit organizations; income from the event supports year-round trail operations and Nordic ski programming in the Methow Valley.
