About the race
Ski to the Sun is an annual community cross-country ski event organized by Methow Trails in partnership with the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation. The course travels through North America’s largest ski trail network and takes skiers from the banks of the Methow River to the mountain area near Sun Mountain Lodge. The event includes a marathon, a half marathon, and a relay format. Registration details are public: registration opens September 21, 2026, and there is no day-of registration.
The entry fee includes a race bib, a custom Ski to the Sun hat, post-race lunch, one free beer for participants 21 and older, raffle prizes, and awards. Organizers note the event sells out each year. Refund and transfer policies are specified. Organizers recommend purchasing registration insurance; insured registrants may file a claim through Allianz Global Assistance.
Without insurance, refunds are available minus a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds are issued after January 15, 2026. Transfers are allowed through the RunReg account system until January 15, 2026, and race entries are valid only for the registered racer. Relay registration requires the team captain to pay the full team fee at registration; relay teams cannot add members once the race is sold out.
Youth pricing and other entry details are available from the organizers. Income from the event supports year-round trail operations and Nordic ski programming in the Methow Valley. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
