Course Overview

The Cutthroat Classic is an 11-mile singletrack trail run located in the North Cascades. The route follows a section of the Pacific Crest Trail, starting at Rainy Pass on the North Cascades Scenic Highway. The course climbs to Cutthroat Pass before descending to the Cutthroat Creek Trailhead. The event is organized by Methow Trails, a nonprofit organization, with income supporting year-round trail operations.

Event Details

The race uses a wave start system with six different start times. Runners self-select their wave based on anticipated finish time. Registration includes race transportation from Mazama to the start line at Rainy Pass, with return shuttles available from the finish line. The event is cupless; participants are asked to carry their own bottle, cup, or hydration pack. There is one aid station at mile seven, supplied by horseback, offering energy chews, water, and sports drink. Parking at the start and finish is limited and requires a Northwest Forest Pass.

Participant Information

Bib pickup is available on Friday in Winthrop or Saturday morning in Mazama. Participants may leave a bag with extra clothing at the start line for transport to the finish. A post-race lunch is provided for participants. Age divisions are offered, ranging from 17 & under to 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
