Skagit Flats Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K
The event in Burlington, Washington offers three distances:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
The marathon and half marathon courses are USATF certified and the full marathon is a Boston qualifier. Routes run on rural Skagit Valley roads and finish on the Burlington-Edison High School track. The course is described as flat and at sea level, with one slight hill removed in recent routing. The course is marked and monitored at intersections; participants share the roads with vehicle traffic and must yield to vehicles.
Chip timing is used for all races. Full-service aid stations are positioned along the marathon course and offer water, a sports drink, and some gels and small food items; porta potties will be located near aid stations. Volunteers and aid stations will have cell phones for communications. All finishers receive a medal, water, and post-race food; high school locker rooms are available for showers and changing.
The field is limited to 800 entrants. There is no gear check and the organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Participants must finish within six hours; the course closes at 2:15 pm. Rules prohibit strollers, dogs, skateboards, and inline skates and require bibs to be worn on the front of shirts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
