Sittingbourne 10 Mile & 10k Road Race
The Sittingbourne Striders event takes place at Kent Science Park in Sittingbourne and marks the club's 40th anniversary. Two distances are offered:
- 10 Mile
- 10k
The courses run through surrounding countryside and include rolling hills; some sections are described as challenging in places. The location at Kent Science Park provides a mix of parkland and facilities, with the Hub café and restaurant available on the day, an indoor registration area, accessible toilets, and parking both at the gatehouse and on the park.
The event raises funds for The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust, which supports the Neonatal Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital by providing additional specialised equipment and resources. The charity supports care for a large number of babies each year.
Included for participants are a bespoke medal, free photographs, trophies and prizes for leading runners, free parking, and complimentary post-race massages provided by The Oast. The main sponsor is Bayford Meadows Kart Circuit, a local outdoor karting venue that also supports junior cycling and family running sessions in partnership with Sittingbourne Striders Juniors.
