Lamplighter 40 Mile Sunset to Sunrise Trail Run
The Lamplighter 40 is a sunset to sunrise trail run of about 40 miles on a circular route across the North York Moors National Park. The route starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall and uses paths and moorland in and around the village of Goathland.
The event is planned to run through the night with the precise start and finish determined by the setting and rising of the sun on the event date. The Lamplighter 40 runs alongside a shorter sibling event titled Lamplighter 20.
Entrants register and collect numbers approximately one hour before last light. The formal start is marked by a lamplighter lighting the lamp outside the village hall gate, and participants are expected to be ready at that moment.
Goathland is noted as the village where the 1960s police drama Heartbeat and scenes from the Harry Potter films were filmed. The event description focuses on the overnight nature of the route, its circular layout, and its village start and finish location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
