SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40
SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40 is an overnight trail running event held on a circular route from Goathland Village Hall across the North York Moors. The event runs through the night from sunset to sunrise and visits trig points, cairns, crosses and other waypoints before returning to the village hall. The total planned duration is circa 12 hours.
Participants register and collect race numbers shortly before last light. Entrants may take part solo or as a pair; pair entries must stay together unless one withdraws. Entry fees are listed at £50 for solo and £95 for a pair. Entrant numbers are limited to 40.
The course uses flagged sections, good tracks, open moorland and forestry. Multiple checkpoint locations supply refreshments, snacks and drinks, and one indoor checkpoint serves pizza plus hot and cold drinks. Hot food, including vegetarian and gluten free options, is available after the finish. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and mementos are provided to the first male and first female finishers.
Each participant receives a tracker and will be supplied with a GPX file and master map to assist navigation. Required kit includes a full map of the North York Moors, compass and whistle, head-torch with spare, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, mobile phone and charger, at least 500 ml of water, at least 60 g of emergency food, and a cup for checkpoint drinks. Parking at the village hall is limited; village parking is available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
