SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40
The Lamplighter 40 is an all night trail running event taking place from Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 June 2027. The route is a circular course that starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall and runs across the North York Moors from sunset to sunrise.
The course passes triangulation pillars, cairns, crosses and other mapped checkpoint locations and uses a mixture of good tracks, open moorland and forestry. There is an indoor checkpoint that serves pizza and hot and cold drinks, and additional checkpoints provide water, fizzy drinks and snacks. Refreshments and hot food, including vegetarian and gluten free options, are available at the finish.
Each entrant receives a tracker and will be given a GPX file and a master map to assist with navigation. Recces of the route are likely. Entrants are limited to 40 and the minimum age is 18. Entry options are solo at £50 and pair at £95; pairs must run together unless one member withdraws. Total elapsed time for the event is circa 12 hours.
All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and the first male and first female finishers receive mementos. An optional event technical T shirt is available via the club shop for £18. Each entrant must carry required kit including map, compass, headtorch with spare, emergency bivvy, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, charged phone, power pack, water, food and a cup for checkpoint drinks.
