SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 20
The Lamplighter 20 is a night trail event of about 20 mile that runs from sunset to sunrise across the North York Moors. The circular route starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall and visits triangulation pillars and other checkpoint locations. There is at least one indoor checkpoint and refreshments, water, fizzy pop and snacks at checkpoint locations. Hot food is available at the finish, including vegetarian and gluten free options.
Each entrant will receive a personal tracker and will be provided with a GPX and a master map to assist navigation. The route uses marked flags, good tracks, open moorland and forestry. There will likely be some recces of the route. Entrants are allowed to enter solo or as a pair, and the field is limited to 40 participants. The minimum age is 18.
There is a mandatory kit requirement. Required items include a map covering the North Yorkshire Moors, a working compass and whistle, a head torch plus a spare torch or batteries, an emergency bivvy bag, spare hat and gloves, a spare warm long sleeved top or fleece, waterproof jacket and bottoms with taped seams unless Paramo, a battery pack and charging lead for a mobile phone, a charged mobile phone with the race director number, at least 500 ml of water, at least 60 grams of emergency food and a cup for drinks at checkpoints. Entrants will have 6.5 hours to return to Goathland Village Hall. Finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there are mementos for the first male and first female finishers.
