Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K : Orwell, Vermont
The Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K is a community walk/run held in Orwell, Vermont at 480 Main Street. The event features a 3.1 Miles course and a ceremonial conch shell to mark the beginning of the event, reflecting a local historical tradition.
Registration is limited to 150 participants. Registration opens 2026-03-15 and closes 2026-09-23. The regular registration fee is $25; day of entry is available for a higher fee and T shirt availability may be limited for entrants who register after 2026-09-07.
Proceeds support the Orwell Village School Booster Club and the Orwell Historical Museum. The local historical theme is woven into the event: participants receive a wooden token, and the first six years of tokens will spell ORWELL. The Orwell Historical Museum preserves a 9 inch section of a bridge pier related to local Revolutionary War history.
Awards include a custom overall award representing the $30 taken in a historic 1862 silver theft for overall men’s, women’s, young men’s and young women’s winners. Age division male and female winners receive ribbons. Age divisions are 13 and under; 14–16; 17–19; 20–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60–64; 65–69; 70–74; 75–79; 80–84; 85–89; 90–94; and 95 and up.
All in-person participants receive a custom Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K T shirt and a wooden token. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
