Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K and Little Bandits Bolt, Orwell Vermont
The event is a community running day in Orwell, Vermont on September 26, 2026, featuring a 5K and a short kids dash on the school grounds. The race will begin with the blast of a conch shell in tribute to a local tradition. The Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K references local history including town chartering in 1763, a documented 1862 theft of silver, and Revolutionary War era connections preserved by the Orwell Historical Museum.

Registration is capped at 150 runners total. Registration opens March 15, 2026 and closes September 23, 2026. Fees listed by the organizer are $25 for the 5K and $20 for the Little Bandits Bolt. All in-person participants receive a custom Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K T-shirt and a wooden token; the tokens collected across the first six years will spell ORWELL.
Awards include a custom award for overall men's, women's, young man and young woman winners representing the historic $30 silver loss, and ribbons for age division winners. Age divisions are 13 and under, 14 to 16, 17 to 19, then 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, 80 to 84, 85 to 89, 90 to 94, and 95 and up.
