Silsoe Stride
The Silsoe Stride is a community running event held within the grounds of Wrest Park and the surrounding farmland. The course takes participants through scenic landscapes on a gently undulating route consisting of the following distances:
- 10 km - Open to those aged 15 and over; includes a few hills; not suitable for walkers.
- 5 km - Open to those aged 7 and over; suitable for runners, joggers, and walkers.
- Children's Fun Run - Distances from 100m to 1000m for children aged 2 to 10 years old.
The 5 km distance welcomes traditional walkers as well as Nordic walkers. For the children's events, participants are grouped by age and school year. All finishers in the children's races receive a medal, and trophies are awarded to the first boy and girl in each category.
The event is organized by local volunteers and village groups, including Silsoe Pre-School, Silsoe Lower Football Club, Silsoe Cubs and Scouts, and the Silsoe Millennium Green Trust. All profits are distributed to beneficiaries within the village. The event site at Wrest Park playing field offers space for families to gather, and facilities include a refreshments area and accessible toilets.
