Silsoe Stride : event overview
Silsoe Stride is a community road and off road event held at Wrest Park, Silsoe, using the estate grounds and the farm tracks of Home Farm. Routes start and finish at Wrest Park and pass Burton Farm and surrounding countryside.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 10 km multi terrain route via estate grounds and woodland
- 5 km scenic route across parkland and farm tracks
- Children's races from 100 m up to 1,000 m by age group
Course and safety notes: the senior routes follow farm tracks with variable surfaces and some hills. Parts of the 10 km include old concrete wartime roads, longer grass, and residual tree debris. Competitors should not go near farm animals or cross cattle grids while running; gates next to cattle grids are planned to be open. Marshals are stationed along the routes and waymarks are colour coded to the race numbers.
On site facilities and arrangements: the Sports Pavilion serves as Race HQ with refreshments, a BBQ, bag drop, and additional toilets. Parking is provided at the bottom of Park Avenue and signs direct vehicles to the reserved car park. Dogs are allowed on the playing field when on a lead but are not permitted on the farm tracks. Earphones and similar devices are not allowed for safety. First aid provision and a medic cyclist are available on the course.
All finishers receive a medal; additional prizes and Wrest Park day pass offers are provided for some finishers and age category winners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
