Signpost Challenge Hike

The Signpost Challenge Hike, organized by South Manchester LDWA, is a scenic and hilly walking event based in Marple, near Stockport. Scheduled for October 19, 2025, it offers two route options: a 24-mile course with 4,300ft of ascent and an 18-mile course with 3,000ft of ascent, both to be completed within 10 hours. The routes traverse notable landmarks including Werneth Low, Cown Edge, Lantern Pike, Chinley Churn, and the Goyt Valley, featuring views of Manchester, the South Pennines, and the Peak District.

New for 2025 are indoor checkpoints at Hayfield and Rowarth, alongside outdoor checkpoints providing refreshments. The event starts and finishes at Marple Senior Citizens Hall. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
