Sibelco Cornwood 10K Challenge & Fun Run
The Sibelco Cornwood 10K Challenge & Fun Run is a community sports event held in the village of Cornwood. The event features two distinct distances that start and finish at Cornwood Square. The courses utilize a combination of local roads and tracks, exploring the surroundings of Cornwood and Lutton.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 10 km: A route on roads and tracks around Cornwood and Lutton for participants aged 16 and over.
- 4 km: A fun run or walk designed with fewer inklines, intended for families and those under 16.
The 10 km event is conducted under UKA rules and includes a course record prize of £50 for both male and female runners. The current records stand at 33:34 for men and 39:16 for women. For safety reasons, the use of headphones is prohibited during the race, and participants wearing them will be prevented from running.
On-site facilities include baggage storage, changing areas, and refreshments. All finishers receive a medal, and team prizes are awarded. Race numbers are distributed on the day of the event from an entries tent located in the square. The event is organized by St Michael & All Angels Church with support from local sponsors.
