Event details
The Shrewsbury Junior and Super Sprint Duathlon is a run-bike-run event held at Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorne Rd, Shrewsbury, SY1 4RQ. All races are timed and each participant receives a McA Series medal. Tern Cycles will be on site for mechanical issues.
Entry, categories and on-site information
Age categories are determined by age on December 31 of the event year. Junior categories cover 8–14 year olds and the Super Sprint is for 15 and over. Participants must have a safe bike, trainers, and a helmet; helmets are mandatory to ride. Transition is located on the cycle track in a cut-through area where athletes keep bikes, running shoes, and any nutrition or hydration; there is no separate bag drop and extra storage is not provided. There is free car parking on site. Spectators have space to view the start, finish and transition areas and a café is available.
On-course rules include running anticlockwise on the inside of the track and riding clockwise on the outside. Riders mount and dismount at clearly marked lines on the outside of the track and should not mount or dismount before those points. Overtaking instructions are posted for runners and cyclists to help maintain safe passing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
