Shrewsbury Junior And Super Sprint Duathlon
The event is a run-bike-run duathlon held entirely within Shrewsbury Sports Village on a purpose-built cycle track. All activity takes place inside the sports village grounds with no road cycling or running, providing a traffic free layout for races and transitions. Races are timed and every participant receives a McA Series medal.
Junior categories and a Super Sprint category are offered. Junior races are for ages 8 to 14 and the Super Sprint is for participants aged 15 and over. All riders must wear a helmet; helmets will be checked at registration. Required kit includes a safe bike, a helmet and running shoes.
Transition is located on the cycle track in a cut-through area away from cycling. There is no bag drop; participants are asked to leave extra items in their vehicles. Mount and dismount lines are clearly marked on the outside of the track and must be used. Run legs are anticlockwise on the inside of the track with runners keeping left; ride legs are clockwise on the outside with cyclists keeping left. Overtaking guidance and route signage will be given during the event briefing.
Practical details: registration is by the cycle track where race numbers are issued, helmets are checked, and free car parking is available in the main car park. Spectators have allocated viewing areas and a cafe is on site.
