Shrewsbury 5k

The Shrewsbury 5k is a series of graded running events held at the Shrewsbury Sports Village on Sundorne Road. The races take place on a dedicated cycle circuit, providing a 5 km distance completed over just more than five laps. The course is characterized as flat, sheltered, and well-maintained.

Participants are grouped into specific races based on their predicted finish times to ensure a graded competitive environment. The event is held under floodlights on a traffic-free surface, which is designed to facilitate fast running times. All race numbers are collected on-site on the day of the event, and participants receive their specific race allocation via email during the week leading up to the competition.

The event follows UK Athletics rules, and the minimum age for entry is 11 years old. Cash prizes are available for the top three male and female finishers. Additionally, a course record bonus is offered for runners who surpass the current records of 14:41 for men and 16:06 for women. While the event does not offer refunds or deferrals, transfers to other runners are permitted until the night before the race.
