Shot in the Dark Fun 5K
The Shot in the Dark Fun 5K is an evening running event held at Sharecroppers Coffee and Creamery in Snead, Alabama. The event takes place in late evening or night and uses chip timing for official results. Participants receive a shirt and a glow kit as part of their entry.
At the finish, participants are required to take a shot of cold brew coffee. All participants who complete the 5K and take the shot receive a finishers "I took a shot in the dark" glass. Prizes are awarded to top male and female finishers and in age group categories. Proceeds benefit the Sharecroppers Soles program, which provides shoes to running athletes.
Registration opens January 2, 2026 and closes July 25, 2026. The stated registration fee is $40. Participants are advised to bring a flashlight due to the late evening or night timing of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
