Shoalwater Classic Triathlon : Shoalwater Bay, Rockingham
The Bike Place Shoalwater Classic is a club-run triathlon organised by Rockingham Triathlon Club and held at Shoalwater Bay car park near Arcadia Drive and Gloucester Avenue. The event offers three race formats with minimum age requirements: Olympic and AquaBike for participants 15 years and older, and Sprint for those 14 years and older.
Distances:
- Olympic: 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- AquaBike: 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike (shoe run to finish required)
The swim uses a beach start and 750 m lap with marked buoys; Olympic and AquaBike competitors complete two laps. The bike is a multi-lap semi-technical course along Arcadia Drive, Boundary Road, Lease Road and Memorial Drive, featuring tight turns and two hairpin turnarounds. The run is a 2.5 km loop completed twice or four times along the foreshore and past Lions Park.
Race operations include a transition area with separate racking for Sprint and Olympic competitors, a bag drop at the finish, two run aid stations spaced 1.25 km apart, and a first aid post on the southern side of the event area. The event follows Triathlon Australia rules, requires swim caps and race bibs, and is organised entirely by volunteers. Registration is online only with entries closing 24 January 2027; an early registration shirt was offered for registrations before 13 December 2026.
