Shiver by the River 5k & 10k Winter Race Series
The Shiver by the River is a four race winter road series held at Jim Dietrich Park in Reading, PA. The series comprises multiple events on separate dates in December 2026 and January, February, and March 2027. The course is wheel measured and run on open roads; 10k runners complete the loop twice. Registration is handled indoors and individual races are offered, with no pre-registration available for individual race entries.

Entry and swag details are specified in advance. Swag must be preordered; a long sleeve tech t-shirt is available for $12 with a preorder deadline of 11/13/26 and may be picked up at any of the four races. Series registration pricing through 11/13/26 is listed as $72 with shirt and $60 without shirt; later series registration is $75. Individual race entry is $25. The event policy notes no refunds and no mailing of awards.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance on race day. Series awards use cross-country style scoring across the four races; a runner must complete at least three races to be eligible and the best three finishes count toward series results. Proceeds benefit the Pagoda Pacers Scholarship Fund and related health and fitness activities. The event is insured by the Road Runners Club of America.
