The event is organised by Helm Hill Runners, a Kendal-based running club focused on fell running and cross country. The club is affiliated to English Athletics and the Fell Runners Association (FRA). Helm Hill Runners train socially in and around Kendal and on the Cumbrian and Howgill fells, and they compete in FRA races, relays and championships, Bofra races, Mid Lancs and Cumbria Cross Country events.
Parking at the event is limited; the information notes that participants should car share or cycle where possible. A new parking area is available but is a 10 minute walk to registration and the start, and that walk is up a steep hill. These logistics affect access between parking and the race assembly area.
