Shining Tor Fell Race : Errwood Reservoir to Shining Tor
Shining Tor is a fell race that starts at Errwood Reservoir and uses the Stakeside path from the car park to reach the summit of Shining Tor. The route continues along the ridge to Pym's Chair and offers views across the Cheshire Plain and toward the Roaches, weather permitting. The course is marshalled by Buxton Mountain Rescue team.
Registration and race operations are based at Errwood Sailing Club at Errwood Reservoir, Sandy Lane, SK17 6GJ. The sailing club provides toilets, a room for registration and hot and cold food and drinks for participants before and after the race. Entrants are required to follow the Fell Runners Association requirements and may be required to carry full FRA kit depending on conditions; the organiser may enforce this requirement on the day. A time limit of 90 minutes applies to complete the course.
Entry for the event is priced at £12.00 and the listed age category for entry is 18 to 89 on the event date. Entries close on the day of the event. In recent years a portion of event profits has been donated to mountain rescue work in the local hills surrounding the Goyt Valley. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
