Sherwood Memorial Park's Run for Donuts 5K
The Sherwood Memorial Park's Run for Donuts 5K and Fun Run takes place in Salem, Virginia. This event utilizes the paved and natural paths located within the grounds of Sherwood Memorial Park. Participants can choose between two distinct distances:
- 5k
- Fun Run
All participants receive a donut at the finish line. The event includes a costume contest where runners are encouraged to wear donut-themed attire or sprinkle colors. The run benefits the Ronald McDonald House Southwest Virginia, an organization that supports families of seriously ill children.
Participants in the 5k receive a knit beanie hat and a finisher medal. Those participating in the Fun Run receive a knit beanie hat and a finisher button. Beanie distribution is guaranteed for those who register by late September, while subsequent registrations receive them based on availability.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, the top three male and female finishers in the 5k are recognized across several age categories, ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Packet pick-up is available the day before the race at RunAbout Sports in Roanoke or on the morning of the event at Sherwood Memorial Park.
