About the race
Sheriff's Meadow Foundation holds its Fourth Annual Trail Run on the trails of Caroline Tuthill Preserve in Edgartown. The event follows a roughly 3.1 Miles loop that starts from the field along Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, passes through pitch pine forest, winds along circuitous paths past salt marshes down to Sengekontacket Pond, and returns to the field.
The route begins in a field and includes a short section of paved bike path before entering the Preserve, where runners encounter a mix of sand and dirt paths and a 160 foot raised boardwalk. The Preserve encompasses over 150 acres of oak and pitch pine forest, salt marsh, and open meadow on Martha's Vineyard. Registration for the run is free; contributions will support the Foundation's land conservation work. Parking is available at the Edgartown Park-and-Ride by the Edgartown triangle at no charge. To access the start line, cross Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road at the designated crosswalk and continue along the north side of the road. Organizers note that they cannot provide transportation from ferry terminals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
