Course and logistics
The race is point-to-point and starts directly in front of the Steamship Authority Vineyard Haven terminal. The route is mostly flat with some rolling hills and passes through three Island towns, including Oak Bluffs (Gingerbread Cottages), a barrier beach road between Nantucket Sound and Sengekontacket Pond, Edgartown’s farming area, and a finish that includes Manuel F. Correllus State Forest. The course has accurately placed mile markers and nine water stations. Post-race provisions include bagels, fruit, treats from Morning Glory Farm, coffee, and hot chocolate. The event enforces a four-hour cutoff (12-minute-per-mile pace); runners unable to finish within that time continue at their own discretion and without aid station or police support.
