Shelter Island Fall 5K
The Shelter Island Fall 5K on October 17, 2026 is a 5K (3.1 mile) community run and walk held at 35 Shore Road in Shelter Island Heights, New York. The course runs along tree lined streets, features rolling hills, and finishes with panoramic waterfront views along Crescent Beach.
The event offers two options, a 5k Run and a 5k Walk. Registration opens on 2026-09-03 and closes on 2026-09-21; the registration fee is $40. Same day registration closes at 10:30 AM. A complimentary shuttle runs from the Shelter Island North and South Ferry terminals to the event and activities take place in the parking lot of the Sunset Beach Hotel at 35 Shore Road.
Race registration for the first 400 runners includes a t-shirt. All finishers receive a finisher medal. The event also includes giveaways, a raffle with prizes from local shops and services, and a complimentary post race barbecue with homemade chili and cookies while supplies last. Proceeds are raised for local beneficiaries: The North Fork Breast Health Coalition, The Coalition for Women’s Cancers, and Lucia’s Angels; proceeds for these beneficiaries go directly to patient care for women on the east end of Long Island.
