Catch A Leprechaun 5K
The Catch A Leprechaun 5K takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Essex, Connecticut. The event raises funds in support of the Region 4 Education Foundation and follows a measured 5K route around the town.
Registration is available online only, including on race day. Entry fees listed are $33 for advance registration before March 10 and $38 thereafter. Region 4 students and staff are listed at $18 before March 10 and $23 thereafter. Entry fees include the online processing fee. Custom short sleeve T-shirts were provided to registrations received before February 10, 2025; thereafter shirts are subject to availability on race day.
Awards are given to the first male and female overall and to the top male and female in the following age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus.
The course description begins on Grove Street by the Essex police department and library, proceeds toward North Main Street, crosses onto New City Street, continues via Riverview Street and Maple Avenue back to North Main Street, follows Methodist Hill and West Avenue, turns onto Grandview Terrace and Grandview Terrace Extension, bears right onto Laurel Road, returns to North Main Street, takes the first right onto Grove Street, then bears left before the tennis courts and follows the park path to the finish by the tennis court next to the Town Hall parking lot.
