Shelter Island 10K & 5K Run/Walk
The event offers multiple running options and related activities on Shelter Island, including a free kids fun run. Distances provided for participants are:
- 10K
- 5K
- Kids Fun Run
The 10K course includes water stops at miles 2, 4, 5, and 6. The 5K course includes a water stop at the halfway point. Course maps and certification information are provided by the organizer.
Awards and prize purses are offered for the 10K. Age-group awards (top three male and female) cover classes from 19 and under through 75 and over. Overall and masters prizes are listed for top finishers, and course record bonuses are offered for open and masters categories. The 5K awards medals for the top three male and female overall finishers.
On-site amenities include finish line photos, die-cut medals, tri-blend event shirts, post-race music, a post-race recovery area with cold plunges and a sauna, and post-race beer for participants 21 and older. A staffed self-serve bag drop is located near the start area; the organizing team does not assume responsibility for belongings.
