The 12th Annual Shawshank Hustle - Mansfield, Ohio
The Shawshank Hustle is a city run/walk held at The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield on August 15, 2026. The course starts and finishes at the reformatory and covers 4.6 miles, routing participants to the Carrousel District in downtown Mansfield and back.
Registration is open until capacity (2,500 participants) is reached. Standard, mailed-packet, and virtual registration options are offered; mailed and virtual packet options are available only to addresses in the contiguous 48 United States. Packet pick-up is available at the race site on the day before the event and the morning of the event.
Race packets include a custom tech shirt (size guarantee for registrations before June 30), a personalized race bib (name deadline June 30), and a finisher's medal. Participants also receive free admission to The Ohio State Reformatory for the 2026 tour season, a ticket for the Richland Carrousel, electronic chip timing, free professional photos, on-course hydration and post-race food.
The course runs on closed city streets, is fully paved, features rolling hills and a final return hill called the Road to Redemption, and crosses railroad tracks twice. There are four on-course water stops and misting stations for cooling. A two-hour course time limit applies and the route may be altered due to local construction.
Event rules note that the event is open to runners and walkers, strollers are permitted from the back, pets are not allowed, every participant must wear a bib and timing chip, and there are no refunds, transfers, or deferrals. Awards include top three overall male and female finishers and age-group prizes including a wheelchair category; awards require on-site presence to be received.
