Shandon Turkey Trot & Burn 5K
The Shandon Turkey Trot & Burn 5K takes place on November 27, 2026, in the Shandon neighborhood of Columbia, South Carolina. The course is USA Track & Field certified and starts and finishes near Craft and Draft. The event is managed by GRIT Endurance, LLC and benefits the Shandon Neighborhood Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Proceeds support the Shandon Neighborhood Grant Program; the race has donated more than $12,000 to local nonprofits to date.
The event welcomes runners and walkers. Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted. The race is held rain or shine. A costume contest called the Turkey Burn awards prizes to the Top 10 most creative outfits. An awards ceremony follows the race.
Entries had grown to more than 1,200 participants in the previous year. Registration fee information is available; a shirt deadline is set for November 3, 2026 to guarantee a race shirt. Shirts must be picked up at packet pickup or on race day and will not be held or mailed after the event. There are no refunds or deferrals. For safety reasons, participants who are not present at the official start with their race bib will not be permitted to start late; participants are asked to plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the race begins.
