The Sesquilizer
The Sesquilizer is an off-road road race held in Columbia, SC on November 22, 2026. The course distance is 8.67 miles and includes about 700 feet of elevation gain; a Strava segment lists about 800 feet but the organizer notes the climb is closer to 700 feet. The mapped course files are available for participants in Strava and Garmin formats.
The event uses an age-and-gender equalized staggered-start format. There are 22 start groups arranged with one-minute intervals so different age and gender groups depart at different times; the fastest younger men are placed in the final start group. Runners who wish to run together must use the later group’s start slot.
Awards are planned for the top eight overall finishers; separate age-group categories are not expected because of the equalized starts. A raffle will be held after the race. Each starter receives a unisex t-shirt with no logos on the back; sizes XS to XL are offered.
Registration is shown with an entry price of USD 75.81 and closes on November 15, 2026. The event location is listed as 9564 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
