99.1 PLR ShamRock & Roll 5K
The event is a St. Patrick’s Day themed road race in New Haven centered at Toad’s Place, with a flat 5K course that starts and finishes near the venue. The route passes by Yale University, proceeds up Whitney Avenue, goes through the East Rock neighborhood, and returns to Toad’s Place.
The event is limited to 1,500 participants and serves as the USATF-CT 5K State Championship. All entrants receive long sleeve tech tees. Post-race activities at Toad’s Place include an awards ceremony, a costume contest with prizes for best individual and group costumes and for the shortest, tallest and slowest finisher, live music, food, beverages, and beer for those 21 and older. Every runner is offered a complimentary Heineken Ultimate.
The race benefits The Diaper Bank of Connecticut. Organizers collect diapers at packet pickup and on race day, and Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante will match the first 50,000 diapers collected. Fundraising options are available that include a complimentary race entry for certain fundraising thresholds.
