The event benefits the O’Brien and William Edward Gibbs Memorial Scholarship Fund. The 5K field is capped at 650 participants. All races start and finish at the school off Beaverdam Road.
Races and course details
- 5K
- 0.4 miles (Fun Run, approximate)
The 5K course follows the same route used in recent years through North Asheville neighborhoods. There is one water station at the top of the Rose Garden on Griffing Avenue. The Fun Run runs from the school to St. Eugene’s Catholic Church on Culvern Street and back; Culvern Street is closed to traffic during the Fun Run. Volunteers will staff each turn and signs will mark turns; police officers will be at key intersections. Runners are asked to stay to the right and use sidewalks when possible.
Logistics and services
All participants receive a custom race shirt; Fun Run participants also receive a finish-line prize. Shirts are ordered around February 24, so late registrants may not receive a shirt or preferred size. The event offers a supervised Bag Drop with a bib stub system. Dogs are not allowed on school property during the event. The 5K uses chip timing attached to the back of the race bib.

Awards include top three overall male and female and top three masters (40+) male and female, plus top three in multiple age groups from 6 & Under through 75 & Over. Limited parking is available at the school and several nearby locations; attendees are advised to secure valuables. The event has a no refund / no deferral policy. Transfers between participants must be completed through the event platform by the published deadline. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
