Asheville Hot Chocolate Races
The Asheville Hot Chocolate Races is an annual winter running event in Asheville, North Carolina, held since 2008. The event includes chip timed road races and untimed children’s fun runs and is scheduled again for 2027, marking 19 years.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K chip timed
- 10K chip timed
- 1K Hill Climb untimed fun run
- Marshmallow Dash untimed fun run
The course begins with a downhill section and finishes uphill, with the main portion running along the French Broad River. Start and finish are at Isaac Dickson Elementary School, 125 Hill St, Asheville, NC 28801. The race benefits the Isaac Dickson Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization, which supports the school’s teachers, students and families.
A post race party is held in the school gymnasium. The gathering includes music, local sponsors and vendor tables, post-race snacks, and hot chocolate made with French Broad Chocolates. Registration information and packet pick up details are provided by the organizers, and registration opens May 1.
In the event of inclement weather, the organizers may postpone the event to 1/30/27 or 2/6/27 at their discretion. There are no refunds if the event is postponed to one of those dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
