Asheville Hot Chocolate Races
The Asheville Hot Chocolate Races take place in January 2027 and mark the event's 19th year. The event starts and finishes at Isaac Dickson Elementary School, 125 Hill St, Asheville, NC 28801, and benefits the Isaac Dickson Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.
The main courses follow a route along the French Broad River, with a downhill start and an uphill finish. The event offers both timed road races and untimed children’s fun runs.
Distances:
- 5K chip timed road race
- 10K chip timed road race
- 1K Hill Climb untimed kids fun run and Marshmallow Dash untimed kids fun run
The event permits alternative dates in case of inclement weather. If postponed, potential makeup dates are January 30, 2027 or February 6, 2027; postponement decisions are at the race director's discretion and no refunds are issued if the event is postponed to those dates. Registration opens May 1.
A post race gathering is held in the school gymnasium with music, local sponsor and vendor tables, snacks, and hot chocolate prepared using chocolate from French Broad Chocolates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
