Asheville Hot Chocolate Races
The Asheville Hot Chocolate Races take place in January 2027 and mark the event's 19th year since first running in 2008. The event starts and finishes at Isaac Dickson Elementary School, 125 Hill St, Asheville, NC 28801, and benefits the Isaac Dickson Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.
The course features a downhill start and an uphill finish and includes a section that runs along the French Broad River. Chip timing is used for the main distances. Kids can enter untimed fun runs.
Distances offered:
- 5K chip timed
- 10K chip timed
- 1K Hill Climb untimed kids fun run
- Marshmallow Dash untimed kids fun run
After the races, the school gymnasium serves as the gathering area. Music will be played and local sponsors and vendors will have booths. Post race snacks are provided and hot chocolate will be served, prepared with chocolate from French Broad Chocolates.
The organizer notes a postponement policy for inclement weather with alternative dates of January 30, 2027 or February 6, 2027. If the event is postponed to one of those dates, there will be no refunds. Registration opens May 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
