Event overview
The Asheville Hot Chocolate Races take place on January 24, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina, with start and finish at Isaac Dickson Elementary School, 125 Hill Street. The event benefits the Isaac Dickson Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization and is described as a family-oriented fundraiser now in its 18th year. Online registration closes on January 23; some onsite registration is available on race day for untimed kids events. Race distances and logistics
Timed distances include a chip-timed Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. Untimed children’s events include a 1K Hill Climb and a Marshmallow Dash (approximately 400 m). The course features a downhill start and an uphill finish and includes a stretch along the French Broad River. Early packet pick up begins the day before in the school gym; race-day packet pick up is also in the gym. A post-race gathering will be held in the school gym with music, local sponsors and vendors, snacks, and hot chocolate made with French Broad Chocolates and Farm to Home Milk.
