Sgt. Dennis Vaccaro Memorial 5K Run/Walk
The Sgt. Dennis Vaccaro Memorial 5K Run/Walk is a community road event held in West Long Branch, New Jersey. The event includes a 5K run and a Free Kids Dash and takes place around Franklin Lake and through nearby neighborhoods, with a mostly flat course. The start area is in front of the West Long Branch Community Center and the finish is behind the Community Center. Parking is available at the back entrance of Shore Regional High School with a short walk to the community center.
Amenities listed for the event include live text and email results, free finish line photos, personalized bibs for those registered three weeks in advance, a raffle for a grand prize for participants 21 and older, post run refreshments, and t-shirts for pre-registered participants. A food bank will attend to collect nonperishable food donations. Virtual participants receive shipped items within a window that may span one week before to one week after the event.
Awards are presented to the top three male and top three female overall finishers and to the top male and female in standard age groups from 14 and under through 70 and over. There is also an award for the largest group.
