Sgt. Bertram 5K9 - Charlestown High School
The Sgt. Bertram 5K-9 is a memorial run/walk held in honor of a Charlestown Police Department sergeant who served for ten years and worked as a K9 officer. The sergeant died on December 12, 2018 while pursuing a suspect in a stolen car. The event recognizes his service and his connection to police dogs; participants are encouraged to run or walk with their dogs, thus making the event a 5K-9.
The event takes place at Charlestown High School, 1 Pirate Place, Charlestown, IN 47111 on August 1, 2026. The race supports two beneficiaries: the annual beneficiary is the 550 Foundation in his honor, and there is an additional local beneficiary.
Registration is available from March 31 through August 1. The listed fee is $34.09 (shown as $30.00 plus processing and taxes). Ages 10 and under receive a 50% discount at checkout. To guarantee receipt of the event t-shirt, registration must be completed by July 3.
