About the race
The SGFMC Turkey Trot is an unofficial community 5K held in Oak Park, Illinois on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026. The event is organized around a neighborhood loop that begins and ends at St. Giles Gym on Linden Street and covers approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). The course is not certified and includes sidewalk sections and multiple turns through nearby streets such as Greenfield, Marion, Le Moyne, Rossell, Elmwood, Berkshire, Ridgeland, Division, and Euclid.
Packet pick-up for preordered shirts and race bibs is available on the day before the race and on race day at St. Giles Gym. Race day access to indoor spaces is limited to bathroom use and volunteers; an outdoor drop area is provided for personal items.
Registration opens October 5, 2026 and closes November 23, 2026. The registration fee is $25. Registrations are nonrefundable and not transferable to another participant or a future year.
Awards are handed out at the finish area rather than at a formal ceremony. Overall male and female 1st through 3rd place finishers receive medals; 1st through 3rd place finishers in each age division receive ribbons. All finishers should check in at the awards table with their finishing time.
Event proceeds are split equally to support Companions Journeying Together and The Neighborhood Bridge. Organizers have arranged timing equipment and course signage and are soliciting sponsors and donors to help cover those costs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
