Seward Solstice Run
The Seward Solstice Run is a trail running event held at Seward Park in Seattle, Washington. The venue is located on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Washington and features more than 100 acres of old-growth forest containing Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir. The event is the fourth installment of the Winter Trail Series.
Participants can choose between two distances:
- 4.2 miles
- 10 km
The route consists of a loop primarily situated within the forest. The course begins on a wide, smooth main trail with flat or rolling terrain before descending toward the tip of the peninsula. Runners then turn onto smaller trails on the western side of the peninsula, which include a technical section featuring sharp turns, roots, and small fallen trees. The path eventually widens and straightens toward the end of the loop.
An aid station is located near the start and finish area. Runners completing the 4.2-mile distance pass this station once, while those in the 10 km event pass it twice. The station provides water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks such as energy bars, gels, fruit, and salty foods. The event also includes a costume contest with a theme of "Glitter, Glamour, and the Galaxy." As the race is USATF sanctioned, dogs are not permitted on the course.
