Event details
The Settle Saunter is an annual walking and running event around the small market town of Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. It follows footpaths and bridleways through rural villages, hamlets and lower fells. The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Settle with support from the local community and raises money for charities such as Fell Rescue, Victoria Hall in Settle and a health education project in Nepal. The venue is Victoria Hall, Kirkgate, Settle, BD24 9DZ.
Routes and entry
There are three routes, all of which can be run or walked:
- 37 km / 23 miles
- 21 km / Half marathon
- 10 km / 6.2 miles
Entry fees listed are £28 for the 23 mile and half marathon, and £20 for the 10k. Children aged 5 to 11 whose parents have entered the 10k may enter free of charge. The 23 mile route is restricted to age 13 and over. Juniors aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult; 16-17 year olds unaccompanied must provide parental or guardian consent.
Course, timing and facilities
Routes are marked with tape and SPORTident timing will be used. A comprehensive route description, maps and GPS files are provided to entrants. Staggered starts are likely, with longer courses starting before shorter ones and earlier slots on longer routes reserved for walkers.
