Settle Saunter - Settle, Yorkshire Dales
Settle Saunter is an annual walking and running event around the small market town of Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. The routes follow footpaths and bridleways through rural villages, hamlets and lower fells. The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Settle with help from the local community and raises money for charities including Fell Rescue, Victoria Hall in Settle and a Health Education Project in Nepal.
Three routes are offered and all can be run or walked:
- 10k 6.2 miles
- Half marathon 21k / 13 miles
- 23 miles 37k
The route is flagged with tape and SPORTident timings will be used. A comprehensive route description, maps and downloadable GPS files are available to entrants. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead.
Age and accompaniment rules are specified for junior entrants. The 23 mile route is restricted to ages 13 and older. Unaccompanied 16 and 17 year olds must provide a parental or guardian consent form. Juniors aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children aged 5 to 11 whose parent has entered the 10k may enter free of charge and will receive a race number and dibber; they must be supervised and observe checkpoint cutoff arrangements.
