Annual Walking and Running Event In Settle
The Settle Saunter is an annual event organized by the Rotary Club of Settle held at Victoria Hall. Participants can choose to walk or run along footpaths and bridleways through the Yorkshire Dales. The routes pass through rural villages, hamlets, and over the lower fells surrounding the market town of Settle.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 10k (6.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (21k / 13 miles)
- 23 Mile (37k)
The courses are flagged with tape and are described as runnable. Organized timing is provided through SPORTident. Entrants have access to comprehensive route descriptions, maps, and GPS files provided by the organizers.
The event follows specific age requirements for participants. The 23 Mile route is restricted to those aged 13 or older, while the 10k is open to those 5 years or older. Participants aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
The event serves as a fundraiser for various charitable causes, including mountain rescue services and local health or education projects. Dogs are permitted to join the event as long as they remain on a lead. On-site facilities include a cafe at the event center serving snacks and drinks throughout the day.
