Event Overview
The Settle Saunter is an annual walking and running event held in the Yorkshire Dales. It uses footpaths and bridleways to go through quieter parts of the area, passing rural villages and hamlets around the market town of Settle. The event is organized by the Rotary Club of Settle with local community help.
Routes and Participation
Three distances are available:
- 23 miles
- Half Marathon (13 miles)
- 10k (6.2 miles)
All routes can be run or walked. Dogs are allowed on a lead. The course is marked with tape and described as runnable. Sportident electronic timing is used. Maps and GPS files are available to entrants.
Entry Information
Entry fees are £28 for the 23-mile and half-marathon distances, and £20 for the 10k. Children aged 5-11 can enter the 10k for free if a parent has also entered. Age restrictions apply: the 23-mile route is for ages 13 and over, and the 10k is for ages 5 and over. Unaccompanied 16-17 year olds require a parental consent form. Juniors aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Event Details
The event starts and finishes at Victoria Hall on Kirkgate in Settle. A cafe at the event center serves snacks and drinks. Staggered start times are planned, with the longer routes starting earlier. Entry on the day is allowed for the 10k, with registration at 10 am. The event raises money for various charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
