About the race

The Set Free Movement Freedom Run/Walk is a community 5K event held at Compass Point Church in Turlock. This is the eleventh annual staging of the event. It is organized to raise awareness about human trafficking and to raise funds for Set Free Movement and the local Fostering Hope ministry, which supports young people in foster care and the professionals who work with them. The event is presented as a fun run and walk.

Participants of different ages and fitness levels take part by running, jogging, or walking. The course is described as flat and follows roads through residential neighborhoods and a trail alongside a canal, using E Tuolumne, Daubenberger, Canal, and Johnson Road. Parking is available in the church lot and along neighborhood streets. The run takes place as part of a Freedom Festival that includes pop up booths, food vendors, a raffle, a kids area, and related activities.

Registered participants receive a drawstring bag, a t shirt, and other items while supplies last; shirts are guaranteed for those who register by September 1. Awards are presented for the overall fastest male and female and for the fastest male and female in each age category. On the day of the event there is packet pickup in the morning, free water and healthy snacks near the finish, and additional food and drinks available for purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
