Battle of Stamford Bridge Run - York
Circuit Running presents a six hour challenge held at the University of York on a 2.2 mile circuit. The course is an out and back route of 1.1 miles each way along footpaths around the university, with a small incline in the middle. The surface is predominantly tarmac with a short grass section at the start and finish of each lap. A mini lap is used for the 5K and 10K options.
An aid table is available at the end of each lap offering water, squash, fizzy drinks and a variety of foods such as sweets and biscuits for participants to access each time they pass. Toilets are located at the York Sport Centre. Participants who finish receive a bespoke medal and a five piece goody bag.
Lap counts are used to define longer distances: six laps equals a half marathon, twelve laps equals a marathon, and thirteen or more laps are counted as an ultramarathon. Participants may begin their final lap up to the six hour limit.
The event is licensed by the TRA and conducted under UKA Athletics rules. Maximum permitted distances by age are specified: 12 to 13 years 5,000 m; 14 to 15 years 6,000 m; 16 years 10,000 m; 17 years 25,000 m; 18 to 19 years 45,000 m; 20 years and over no maximum distance.
