Semper Fi 5k
The Semper Fi 5k is a local athletic event held in Pensacola, Florida. This charity event originated in 1984 as a fundraiser to support families affected by the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing. Over time, the focus of the event shifted toward supporting various non-profit children's organizations within the Greater Pensacola area. The leadership of the race is currently managed by the Marine Corps League, Cpl. J. R. Spears Detachment 066.
The event categorized participants into two primary disciplines:
- 5k Run
- 5k Walk
The race course starts and finishes at Seville Quarter in Downtown Pensacola. Participants often include local active-duty military units and high school JROTC units who participate in the event by running in formation. The event maintains different registration categories for civilians and active-duty military members, with military participants required to provide identification.
Packet pickup and late registration are available the day before the event at Running Wild on East Cervantes Street, as well as on the morning of the race at Seville Quarter. The event continues a long-standing tradition of community involvement and support for local youth organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
