Seat Sandal Fell Race
The Seat Sandal is an AS category fell race held in Grasmere, Cumbria. The event starts and finishes at a field adjacent to Winter Seed Lane, located off the A591 north of Grasmere village. The race involves a course of 7.4 km (4.6 miles) with a total ascent of 700 m (2297 ft).
The route follows specific navigational requirements. During the ascent, participants must remain east of Tongue Gill while heading toward Grisedale Hause. From there, the path leads to a checkpoint on the summit of Seat Sandal. The descent is directed by flags to a specific checkpoint at grid reference NY 33782 10226. There is also partial flagging at the start and finish areas of the course.
Registration is available on the day of the event only, with no pre-entry option. The race is limited to a maximum of 150 participants. Runners must be at least 18 years old to compete. In accordance with Fell Running Association (FRA) rules, participants are required to carry full kit, and the use of certain GPS functions for navigation is prohibited.
