SD HipHop 5k
The SD HipHop 5k is an annual community event held in San Diego that integrates physical activity with music and cultural celebration. The event features a standard course as well as a virtual challenge option. Participants in the virtual challenge can choose to run, walk, cycle, swim, or roll at their own pace in any location to complete the distance.
The event includes the following distances:
- 3 Miles (Running and walking race)
- 3 Miles (Kids 12 and under race)
- 3.1 Miles (Virtual challenge)
The physical race takes place at 4343 Ocean View Boulevard. Registrants receive event t-shirts while supplies last, and children aged 12 and under may participate with signed parental consent. The race is followed by the Hip Hop Health and Wellness Festival, which includes live music and various forms of entertainment. Attendees are permitted to bring lounge chairs, blankets, and canopies to the festival grounds.
Separate packet pickup sessions are organized prior to the event at Euclid Avenue as well as at the race location on the morning of the run. Participation is open to individuals of different physical abilities, and the virtual component allows for the distance to be completed over a single day or across multiple days.
